Some of the key benefits include fast results, minimal side effects, and broad insurance coverage across the country.
NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy is proudly offered at Chrysalis Psychiatry. If you are interested in learning more about how NeuroStar Advanced TMS works—including understanding the TMS procedure—we are here to provide all the information you need.
Before you begin your NeuroStar treatment, we will ensure that you meet important eligibility criteria. You must be a qualifying patient to safely participate in this treatment, and we will determine your eligibility through an initial consultation that reviews your medical and psychiatric history.
In order to participate in the program, you must have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or major depression with comorbid anxiety. NeuroStar is not recommended for those with certain brain or head implants. There may be additional eligibility criteria that you will be required to meet prior to beginning your NeuroStar treatment.
Your initial consultation is a good opportunity to ask any questions you have to our specialist care provider. Our care provider will ensure that you are equipped with all the information and resources you need to understand TMS therapy and safely undergo the treatment.
At Chrysalis Psychiatry, your NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy sessions are designed to be very straightforward and comfortable. The treatment involves a series of short sessions with our clinical TMS provider, typically lasting about 20 minutes each, spread out five days a week over approximately two months.
During your treatment session, the NeuroStar device uses safe electromagnetic pulses to target specific areas of your brain, helping to reduce symptoms of depression or obsessive-compulsive disorder. There are no needles, surgery, or medications involved. If you feel any discomfort, it will usually be very mild and temporary, and it can be easily treated with over-the-counter pain medication.
NeuroStar Advanced TMS therapy is FDA-cleared and has been studied in over 65 clinical studies. One of the best aspects of the therapy—and one reason why it is so popular and highly-recommended—is that it does not require any recovery time. After each session, you can return to your usual activities right away, making this treatment non-disruptive for busy schedules.
Taking charge of your mental health is a bold and empowering decision—and an important step to take to better your life.
